There’s a moment most people don’t talk about.

It’s not the fall.

It’s the moment you realize you went all in…and figured out that you were on the wrong path.

Wrong relationship.
Wrong opportunity.
Wrong environment.
Wrong people.

That moment is heavy.

This week, I had a conversation with Bubba that stuck with me.

Last baseball season wasn’t kind to him...not even a little bit.

Unfair treatment.
Limited playing time.
Emotional abuse from a coach and an organization that should have known better.

Things completely outside his control.

And yet…he told me he was glad it happened.

Not because it was easy...not because it didn’t hurt.

But because it clarified everything.

It forced him to get honest about what he wants baseball to look like for him.

It took an already high level of effort…and demanded more.

Sharper focus.
Higher standards.
No wasted energy.

He didn’t get bitter...he got better.

That same lesson has been staring me in the face.

The shipping world hasn’t been kind to a lot of people over the last year...myself included.

Markets shifted.
Relationships changed.
Paths I went all in on didn’t turn into what I thought they would.

And at some point, you have to face the truth.

You weren’t just knocked down...you were walking in the wrong direction.

That realization is humbling.

Starting over always is.

But responsibility doesn’t mean blame...it means ownership.

It means deciding that what happens next is on you.

Getting up matters more than how hard you fell.

Not because falling doesn’t hurt...but because staying down guarantees nothing changes.

Every reset forces clarity...every setback asks a question.

Are you willing to adjust?
Are you willing to take responsibility?
Are you willing to recommit…even when no one is cheering?

I am.

And if you’re in a season where you’ve been knocked down…by people…by circumstances…or by your own decisions…

You’re not done...you’re being refined.

Get back up.

Then watch what happens.

COFFEE WITH CHRIS REFLECTION
What would change if you stopped judging yourself for the fall…and focused entirely on how you get back up?

Are you willing to adjust your path without quitting on yourself?

Get back up…and try again.

Your Superpower might be simpler than you think...
There’s a pattern I’ve started to notice in my career… Superpowers are a thing. I’m usually not the smartest person in the room...like ever. I’m not the technical expert (those who know me can stop laughing any time now)... And I’m rarely the one building the product... But I do seem to have one consistent advantage. I build like and trust with people quickly. Some people call it networking… I ...
Why Trust Matters More Than Titles
One quiet goal I have these days. I want to be someone people trust without hesitation. Not because of a title...not because of a position... Just because of who I am. That might sound simple, but the older I get the more I realize how rare that kind of trust actually is. Most of the world is built around titles. Vice President...founder...CEO...Executive... Those things can create authority......
Maybe We've Been Asking the Wrong Question?
How on earth is that possible? And it’s not like I’ve never been asked. That question has been coming at me for decades now…usually from people who had their lives figured out far earlier than I did. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” When I was a kid, I had the same big dreams most kids have. Mine just happened to involve becoming a professional basketball player. Never mind the fact t...
